Job Title : Golf Grounds Maintenance Coordinator

Department : Golf (Links & Tees)

Reports to : Golf Operations Supervisor

Job Class : Extended Part-Time, Non-Exempt, IMRF Eligible

Compensation : $17-$21 per hour

Work Hours : Monday-Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. - 1 : 30 p.m. up to 29 hours per week; some weekends, when needed

Position Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Golf Operations Supervisor, the Golf Grounds Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for maintaining, planning, and overseeing all aspects of the landscaping, turf, general equipment maintenance, and overall grounds of the Golf driving range, 9 - hole course, miniature golf, and indoor range.

Additionally, the Grounds Maintenance Coordinator will participate in seasonal activities such as snow removal. During the Dome season, they will work behind the counter as a Registrar when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs self-maintenance functions for the driving range and golf course including, but not limited to, mowing greens, aerating, top dressing, changing cups-tee, and marker-rake bunkers.
  • Performs turf maintenance duties including, but not limited to, establishing new turf, seeding, fertilizing, weed killing, usage of pesticides, and maintaining irrigation systems.
  • Performs landscape work including, but not limited to, planting and trimming of tree shrubs, grading of new and existing areas, and fertilizing.
  • Evaluates staffing needs (including seasonal recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluations in partnership with Human Resources) and makes adjustments within the department to ensure programs operate efficiently and create an environment for success.
  • Performs personnel supervisory responsibilities of part-time and seasonal golf maintenance staff which may include performance management, disciplinary actions, and engagement activities.
  • Monitors the condition of the facilities and makes recommendations for minor and major upkeep, repairs, renovations, and improvements.
  • Purchases and maintains an inventory of supplies and chemicals.
  • Assists in performing general facility maintenance duties of all buildings within the golf grounds including but not limited to minor repairs and cleaning.

May also perform facility opening and closing procedures.

  • Performs snow removal duties for Golf and other park district sites as needed. Ensures sidewalks and parking lots are free of hazards.
  • Assist in procedures for equipment use and safety and maintaining SDS records.
  • Maintains accurate records of inventory, maintenance procedures, maintenance equipment logs, and pesticide application.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of facilities including proper storage of all chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Cleans, and performs maintenance on all golf equipment. Outsources repairs as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual departmental budget for maintenance and capital improvement.
  • Establishes good working relationships with staff, patrons, the community, and other agencies serving the area.
  • Organizes , prioritizes, and directs multiple projects, labor, and equipment needs.
  • Demonstrates, leads, and supports the Park District's mission statement, vision, and core values.
  • Establishes, supports, and maintains collaborative efforts with internal and external customers and organizations.
  • Maintains a proactive approach to safety and risk management.
  • Must adhere to safety policies and procedures as outlined in the safety manual and perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Addison Park District's safety program.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend workshops and seminars about employee positions, as need ed, for new ideas, developments, and techniques.
  • May be required to work special events from time to time at night and on weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • High School diploma required or equivalent.
  • Certificate in turf maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Must have a valid Drivers' License.
  • Successfully passed background check + drug test to operate park district vehicles and equipment.
  • Minimum of 2.5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in the use of landscape and grounds equipment.
  • Proficient in the repair and use of irrigation equipment, golf course mowers, and carts.
  • Must have a State of Illinois Pesticide Operator's License within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must be CPR and AED certified within six (6) months of hire.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Position is required to work both inside and outside during various environmental conditions, such as but not limited to rain and mud, hot and cold temperatures, and exposure to dust, fumes, dirt, and noise.
  • Position must operate and handle assigned equipment which may include, but is not limited to tractors, heavy equipment, trucks, and automotive equipment.
  • Must have the p hysical agility to maintain mobility from site to site and be able to perform moderate manual tasks (a thorough pre-employment physical examination will be required after the conditional job offer.)
  • May perform duties which include, but are not limited to prolonged lifting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds, heavier with mechanical assistance.
