Project Manager, Portfolio Strategy

This person will provide overall project management of critical information technology projects as related to operational reporting.

Able to manage 10-15 reporting projects at any given time. Core responsibilities include project initiation, planning, control, execution, and communication pertaining to technology and business solutions.

The project manager ensures that goals are accomplished within scope, time, budget and inline with business objectives, quality and integrity parameters.

The project manager is responsible for day-to-day planning, and following the project management methodology in place.

Essential Duties

Works with business sponsor and stakeholders to write and review reporting project proposals to determine project goals, scope, time, budget, procedures for accomplishing project, and staffing requirements.

Manages the day-to-day details of the reports including the plan, schedule, resources, task assignments, scope, budget, issues and risks.

Leading the effort in creative approaches to problem solving and quality deliverables supporting business needs. Prepares project documents and team members for audits and quality assurance procedures.

Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs, requirements and project team workload.

Tracks progress and monitors all development activities to ascertain and control progress. Forecasts resources needs and communicates those needs / constraints to management.

Analyzes project hours against the average, reports anomalies to management. Ensures solution design and delivery fits with agreed upon guidelines including functional, technical, performance, security, scalability, process, and total cost of ownership.

Resolves and / or escalates risks and issues in a timely fashion. Facilitates effective regular status communication and / or meetings with project team.

Understands how to communicate difficult / sensitive information tactfully. Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.

Develops lasting relationships with project team that foster closer ties. Acts as business analyst on projects when needed.

Work includes interviewing business subject matter experts, writing high level and detailed business requirements. Coordinates production support & maintenance activities, including launch planning.

Work Experience

1-2 years project management experience with multiple short-term projects, under tight deadlines, with emphasis being placed on individual's ability to successfully manage projects.

3-5 years of overall business / IT experience.1-2 years business analysis experience desired. Knowledge and application of project management principles.

Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and Visio. Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage complex and varied relationships.

Excellent ability to organize time and information to successfully complete projects. Experience in using and supporting Microsoft Project Server a plus.

Excellent ability to organize information, manage tasks and projects and use available tools to effectively contribute to organization.

Ability to express oneself effectively within groups and in one-to-one conversations. Conveys information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documents.

Bachelor's degree, postgraduate work in business, or project management preferred. Course work or progress towards PMP preferred.

Education

Ideal candidate has 3-5 project management experience
