DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Energy Assistance Worker, you will evaluate information to appropriately apply policies and procedures to confirm eligibility or ineligibility for the LIHEAP benefits.
You will work in a call center environment responding to calls and emails concerning LIHEAP. In this role, it is essential to consistently interact objectively and with sensitivity to applicants in distress or in stressful situations.
You will also assist callers with the Commonwealth of PA Access to Social Services (COMPASS) website or mobile app. This work requires you to frequently utilize various computer applications while simultaneously interacting with clients and various DHS personnel.
In this position, you will be a crucial part of connecting citizens to other community resources that may assist them or supplement available LIHEAP benefits.
In addition, it is imperative that you posses excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :
- Seasonal full-time employment
- Seasonal employment runs from approximately October to April but employment may begin as early as September and last until June.
- Work hours are 8 : 30 AM to 5 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Work hours and schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
- Telework : This position is eligible for telework after successfully completing a six-month probationary period. You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, reporting to the office 1 day per month.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :
- Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements :
