This position is under the direct supervision of the Artistic Administrator - Opera for an assigned shift of the Opera Tampa Department and is responsible for serving all the departmental communication needs.
The Straz Center is seeking candidates to join our team! Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment.

Essential Functions :
- Serve as point-person for cross-departmental projects, including completing Internal Catering Forms
- Prepare check request forms for Opera Tampa
- Assist with Opera Tampa League / Board events, including setting up, breaking down, and entertaining any league member's thoughts or questions
- Assist with Opera Tampa events, including making phone calls, creating e-mails, completing event forms, etc.
- Help create the curriculum for the school shows
- Monitor Opera Tampa website for needed updates
- Create Opera Tampa calendars for scheduling outreach for the Opera Tampa Singers
- Help coordinate school shows / outreach performances with education department
- Help coordinate Opera Tampa Singer performances
- Gather and organize artist materials
- Help facilitate and schedule Opera Tampa chorus and mainstage auditions
- Coordinate audition times / schedule with auditionees
- Gather their repertoire / resume / pre-contract agreement for background check
- Contract Opera Tampa Chorus Members
- Help manage the Managing Artistic Director of Opera Tampa & OTS calendar of events
- Schedule meetings and appointments on behalf of Opera Tampa
- Respond to phone calls on behalf of the Opera Tampa and reservation inbox
- Record and transcribe minutes of Opera Tampa meetings as required
- Assist in managing the settlement folders for Opera Tampa
- Collect and create costume measurements and charts for each show
- Organize office space
- Assist Artistic Administrator with duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) :
- Must have passion for and skill in working with Opera Tampa and participating in performances.
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop singers and effectively relate to opera performers and clients.
- Effective and professional communication skills.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Uses professional knowledge and skills, both technical and managerial, to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Education and Work Experience :
- Bachelors' Degree in the Arts or comparable experience required. Music or Theater majors preferred.
- At least three (3) years of theater production or performance experience required. Opera-specific performance is a preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be computer proficient and have knowledge of Internet Explorer Internet Software, Microsoft Office.
Tessitura experience preferred.
- Knowledge of and ability to understand how an opera performance is produced is required.
- Knowledge of and ability to play various musical instruments is a plus.
- Ability to seek out new methods to support the production of entertaining and efficient Opera Tampa operations.
