Solar Project Developer (Community Solar Projects) - Remote with travel to Chicago
We are seeking a skilled Solar Project Developer to join our team, focusing on community solar rooftop projects in Chicago.
This role emphasizes project management and technical coordination over business development or sales. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in solar project development and be based in or near Chicago, or willing to travel there regularly.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Management : Oversee the development of identified community solar rooftop projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Technical Coordination : Work closely with technical teams to design and implement efficient solar energy systems.
- Permitting & Compliance : Secure necessary permits and ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Budget & Schedule Management : Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Vendor & Contractor Management : Coordinate with vendors and contractors to procure necessary materials and services.
- Installation Oversight : Supervise the installation and commissioning of solar systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Documentation : Maintain detailed project documentation, including design plans, permits, and compliance records.
- Risk Management : Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (., Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Project Management).
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar project development, with a focus on rooftop solar projects.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in project management tools and a strong understanding of solar energy systems.
- Certifications : Relevant certifications (., NABCEP) are a plus.
- Soft Skills : Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Attributes :
- Location : Based in Chicago or within a close distance to travel there monthly. Must be in the same time zone as Chicago.
- Travel : Willingness to travel to Chicago regularly (expenses covered).
- Project Focus : Experience with community solar projects and a strong understanding of rooftop solar systems.
- Regulatory Awareness : In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations affecting solar projects.
- Sustainability Focus : Commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions and reducing environmental impact.
Compensation :
- Salary : $150,000 - $200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Travel Expenses : Hotel, rental car, and food expenses covered for travel to Chicago.
