The Nationwide Aviation Business Center provides safe, reliable, critical, time-sensitive travel, for Nationwide Insurance professionals to numerous locations across the United States.

As Chief of Maintenance, you'll take ownership for the daily maintenance activity of our fleet of aircraft and direct a team of highly skilled and motivated technicians.

Job Description

Location : Aviation / Port Columbus Hangar

Key Responsibilities :

Hire, train, and engage a highly professional team of aviation mechanics, serving as a mentor, coach, advisor, and educator to ensure they are maintaining the highest industry standards.

Ensure the safe operation of company aircraft by adhering to the highest safety standards maintaining aircraft. This includes routine service, preventive maintenance, and pre and post flight safety checks.

Lead a culture of safety and continuous improvement using our Safety Management System (SMS) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

As a member of the aviation leadership team, demonstrate customer service as a constant high priority for your team and across our flight department.

You and your maintenance team will work as one flight team with pilots and other staff.

Stay connected with the local business aviation community to raise the standard of professionalism through educational opportunities, leadership, internships and networking within our industry.

Lead all facets of the operations including preparation of the annual maintenance budget, keep all aircraft records up to date, and maintain inventory of items used to safely and operate aircraft.

Keep the General Manager informed of all operations and key requirements. Recommend creative solutions to ensure the company is getting the highest value for the investment.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships : Reports to VP, General Manager - Aviation; manages a team of 4-6 associates; may also provide oversight of contract / vendor personnel.

Typical Skills and Experiences :

Education : Aircraft-mechanic technical schools to match years of experience. Four year college degree preferred.

License / Certification / Designation : FAA Aircraft Mechanic Airframe & Powerplant Certification (A&P) Inspection Authorization Certification (IA), National Business Aviation Associate (NBAA) Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) preferred.

Experience : Ten years verified experience as an active aviation manager, five or more on aircraft make and model similar to Nationwide's fleet preferred.

Experience leading and inspiring by example.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Confirmed knowledge in aircraft power plants, avionics and related equipment. Confirmed decision-making skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills, ability to teach and train others in aircraft maintenance, leadership, accountability, and mentoring.

Job Conditions :

Overtime Eligibility : Not Eligible (Exempt).

Working Conditions : Hangar maintenance shop environment. Some extended hours.
