Summary
Forest Electric NJ seeks a Site Safety Manager to assist with the implementation and management of Site Specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP) in conjunction with the project team in Central New Jersey.
The Site Safety Officer will be experienced and knowledgeable in the safe work practices associated with commercial and industrial construction.
Responsibilities may include, but not limited to :
- Ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, Company policies, and Client safety requirements.
- Conduct and document site safety inspections and audits.
- Ensure availability, acceptable condition, and proper use of PPE.
- Ensure Competent Person and Qualified Person designations are in order.
- Conduct weekly Toolbox Talks.
- Equipment inspections- ladders, MEWPs, PFAS, electrical cords, tools, fire extinguishers, etc.
- Task inspections and oversight-confined space, LOTO, trenches, etc.
- Assist in preparing Job Hazard Analyses, PTPs, etc.
- Assist with site first aid; accompany injured worker to medical facility.
- Assist with near-miss, accident, and injury investigations.
- Promote safe practices and respond to employees safety concerns.
- Attend Management safety meetings.
- Enforce Disciplinary Policy and conduct Company Safety Orientations.
- Serve as Entry Supervisor for PRCS.
- Collaborate with incident case management to control OSHA recordable and lost time injuries.
- Interface with Workcare group as needed to support medical treatment of injured workers.
- Perform other activities deemed necessary.
- Participate in stand-downs.
- Manage communication between site and office.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years work related experience in safety, preferably in union electrical construction.
- Must be knowledgeable of safety management and OSHA compliance objectives.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and judgment skills.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Direct experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Current OSHA 30 required.
- BCSP credentials a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, lift / carry equipment, walk / stand, push / pull, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, ramps, scaffolding, & ladders, stoop, crawl, kneel, or crouch and work in sometimes noisy, dusty work environments and outside weather conditions.
