PSA BDP serves over 5, customers, including some of the world's leading multinational companies within the chemical, retail & consumer, life sciences & pharmaceuticals, and electric vehicle & industrial verticals.

Director of Strategic Sourcing

The indirect Procurement organization is new to PSA BDP and is in the first phase of development. This is a unique opportunity, for the right candidate, to be part of / help build the foundational structure of PSA BDP’s global indirect Procurement office, driving true value across the global landscape.

The indirect Procurement team consists of Procurement / Sourcing, Facilities, and Travel.

The Director of Strategic Sourcing will report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer and will have a number of critical responsibilities across the indirect Procurement organization.

This person will develop internal and third party partnerships, uncover optimization opportunities, employee cost savings strategies, and implement innovative disruptive solutions for PSA BDP.

This candidate is both a leader and a doer, proficient across all categories of indirect Sourcing / Procurement, with the ability to traverse the end-to-end Procurement / Sourcing lifecycle (e.

g. : need / RFx / contracting / Procurement operations / scaling globally / etc.). They will have responsibility for the day-to-day global indirect Procurement and Sourcing activities.

Additionally, they will help to strengthen PSA BDP’s global Procurement team, procedures, methods, and policies.

This person will be accountable for maintaining strong working relationships with all stakeholders in the value chain, including business leadership, horizontal service owners, and PSA’s global Procurement team.

They will help facilitate the newly developed Procurement processes, drive forward key initiatives, identify opportunities for global deals, leverage economies of scale, and create competitive advantages that maximize value for the organization.

This newly constructed team will embark on this journey together, seizing opportunities to drive success and value for both PSA BDP and the Procurement organization.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency across all areas of Procurement and Sourcing :

  • Have worked in and negotiated with third parties across the indirect Procurement / Sourcing ecosystem.
  • Has develop a deep understanding of Procurement / Sourcing, third party risk / viability, contracting, negotiation strategies, and analysis of third-party data sets.
  • Contains an understanding of risk management, third party governance, and supplier relationship management.
  • Keeps abreast of market trends, third party incentive structures, changes in industry practices, and new goods and services entering the market.
  • Can hit the ground running with minimal assistance.

Main duties :

  • Perform the day-to-day Procurement and Sourcing activities. Including competitive bidding, Sourcing / RFx processes, cost savings strategies, contract negotiations, partnership development, and third party analytics.
  • Leverage a variety of techniques to understand business requirements, such as interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, and storyboards.
  • Partner to shape business requirements by making recommendations and suggesting alternatives to proposed solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to hone project scope, identify qualified vendors, draft RFx’s, conduct the competitive bid processes, and negotiating contractual relationships.
  • Understand technical options, limitations, costs, and risks. Communicate tradeoffs and work to shape requirements accordingly.
  • Manage the communication process with third parties, including what information should be communicated, when and by whom, to ensure that appropriate leverage is preserved.
  • Negotiate favorable contracts with reputable vendors that meet the unique and changing needs of our business.
  • Govern, assess, and manage third parties, stakeholder, and artifacts (including various contracts).
  • Work to rank demand and resolve competing priorities.
  • Establishes strategic initiatives to drive third party contract consolidation, cost reduction initiatives and opportunities to bring value.
  • Manage current policies and optimize them for future success.
  • Evaluate tools and process to help govern / manage both projects and daily activities.
  • Develop future processes that enable Procurement to grow and expand, including contract management and supplier relationship management.
  • Partner with global stakeholders.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment.

Sub duties :

  • Help classify and rationalize the vendor portfolio, so focus can be applied to key third party relationships / engagements, while reducing redundancy of products and services.
  • Maintain an inventory of third party spend in collaboration with finance by category and region.
  • Manage third party relationships as the key point of contact between specified third parties and the business.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for issue management and disputes, driving those issues to resolution.
  • Drive a customer service and financial discipline mindset measuring success using goals and metrics.

Exemption Type Exempt (Salaried) Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Pre Law, Consulting or demonstrated skills through previous positions / experience
  • At least 12 years Procurement / Sourcing experience.
  • Experience in consulting is a plus.
  • Must be able to work as both an individual contributor, running daily activities and able to lead others.
  • Ability to quickly learn the objectives, structures, operations, and policies of a new business area.
  • Seeks advice from others when appropriate and ensures that due diligence is practiced.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with business partners to achieve target outcomes, including the ability to socialize objectives and garner support.

  • Fluent English - daily communication only in English
