S. Our client is seeking a Bilingual Care Coordinator to join their team.
As a Bilingual Care Coordinator specializing in dental insurance, particularly within the Medicaid framework, you will act as a vital link between patients, dental providers, and the Medicaid program.
Your primary responsibilities will include helping members understand their benefits, scheduling appointments, and guiding them on how to effectively utilize their dental coverage.
The Care Coordination Team plays a crucial role in ensuring that Medicaid members receive the dental care necessary for optimal oral health.
Beyond dental services, the team also connects members with community resources to address their broader needs. Your work will significantly influence key outcomes, such as benefit utilization and care for members with specific health considerations, including those who are diabetic or pregnant.
In this role, you will reach out to members who have not recently accessed their benefits or are new to the plan, assisting them with initial appointments, follow-ups, and emphasizing the importance of preventive care.
This position requires empathy, patience, attention to detail, and effective planning and documentation skills to ensure a successful and supportive experience for all members.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in understanding their dental benefits, coverage, and treatment options
- Coordinate care by scheduling dental appointments and follow-ups when necessary
- Collaborate with dental providers and patients to ensure timely and appropriate service delivery
- Verify patient eligibility for Medicaid dental benefits and assist with changes to dental home assignments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting interactions, care coordination efforts, and changes in coverage or treatment plans
- Follow up with patients post-treatment to ensure care was received and address any issues with Medicaid coverage
- Advocate for patients by identifying and addressing barriers to appropriate dental care, such as transportation, language, or scheduling conflicts
- Coordinate with internal teams and community-based organizations to address identified barriers
- Conduct outreach efforts to inform Medicaid members about their available dental benefits
- Utilize empathy and communication techniques to engage with members who haven't seen a dentist in a while or are new to the plan
- Maintain timely and effective communication with members, providers, and intradepartmental staff
- Accurately document and track all communications to ensure proper reporting to compliance agencies
- Identify potential members eligible for case management
- Achieve high accuracy and quality with a focus on reducing barriers to oral health treatment
- Foster a mindset of innovation and automation
- Work effectively with a diverse population, including individuals from underserved communities
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual in Spanish or Haitian Creole (required)
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare or call center environments
- 1+ year of experience in a dental office, including dental insurance navigation and healthcare coordination
- 1+ year of experience with Medicaid dental coverage and claims processes
- 1+ year of experience working with underserved, at-risk, Medicaid, and diverse populations
- 1+ year of experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole
- 1+ year of experience working with multiple systems and screens, including MS Office
- Experience in a dental office or dental certification (preferred)
- Experience with Medicaid or government-funded health programs
- Knowledge of dental procedures, treatments, and terminology
