Controller Financial OperationsBirmingham AlabamaFullTimeThe Controller assists the CFO in all daily financialoperations including month end close review analysis and actionplanning daily key performance indicator monitoring as well assupply chain and revenue cycle operations oversight.
Assists theMarket CFO in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring thefinancial statements including the books and records are preparedand maintained in accordance with GAAP.
Provides handson trainingcontinuous improvement and assistance to department leaders andstaff related to market financial operations.
Responsible forpreparation of the Markets annual detailed operating budget routineforecast preparation and adherence to audit requirements for GMEand Lab.
The Controller has responsibility for Shared Services Laband GME entities as well as other market support as appropriate.
JobResponsibilitiesParticipates in the markets longterm and shorttermfinancial process; makes recommendations analyzes deficiencies andprepares reports as needed.
Provides director level oversight forfinance teams with Lab and GME. Functions in lead role withhospital controllers to optimize performance with finance team inthe markets.
Works with market department leaders and staff todevelop work plans to improve financial operations and quantifyfinancial impact of improvement projects.
Stays attune toactivities within the Internal Audit department to ensurecompliance. Completes selfaudit risk assessments.
Ensures SOXcompliance and regularly reviews and audits practices within theorganization and affiliates. Responsible for timely and accuratemonthend reporting and performance analysis for both revenue andcost to budget / forecast.
Working knowledge and responsibility forbalance sheet reconciliation review. Will also identify areas ofshortfall and assist in the development of mitigation plans.
Completes all quarterly / routine forecasts in a timely and accuratefashion for the CFO review and approval. Responsible for the annualoperating budget process for the market entities includingcollection of information obtaining input from department leadersand determining ways to accomplish budget goals efficiently andeffectively.
Assists department heads in program planning;including organizational goal achievement budgeting facilitiesequipment supplies utilization and statistical / financial reporting.
Responsible for preparing revenue cost and service line analysis aswell as pro forma development as needed. Works closely with CFO oninitiatives to ensure successful management of financialoperations.
Be able to perform responsibilities of CFO ifnecessary. Other duties as assigned.EducationRequired : BachelorsDegree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent minimum experiencerequirements.
