Description
The SNAP-Ed School Garden Educator promotes and improves individual and community health by teaching gardening, agricultural healthy eating behaviors, and physical activity practices to low-income communities.
Deliver appropriate gardening, agricultural, health and nutrition programs to meet audience needs and prepare, instruct and evaluate day-to-day classes.
Assist School Garden Coordinator as needed. Help to implement farm-to-school program activities, including the development and maintenance of school gardens and teaching garden-based nutrition programming.
Assist with garden planning and installations, Harvest of the Month, and Farm to School grant projects.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Provide support for SNAP-Ed’s School Garden Program, by providing hands-on garden based education and technical assistance for each garden site.
- Develop creative lesson plans for remote and in-person programs that include interactive demonstrations and group activities as relevant.
- Adapt and deliver educational curricula to non-English speaking audiences through an Interpreter or teach in the native language.
- Promote program through social media platforms, community networking and outreach in order to recruit SNAP-Ed participants and deliver programs.
