JOB SUMMARY :

The Senior Systems Engineer Hardware is responsible for providing architecture, engineering, and delivery support to the Technology Workplace Products Hardware team, specifically focused on component hardening, hardware lifecycle, compliance, and product selection.

This role partners with business, technology leaders, architects, and other engineers to engineer systems and the systems that deliver those systems.

This role will perform research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of systems to meet current and future requirements, ensuring that Marriott's services have the necessary resiliency and uptime appropriate to user needs while delivering a fast rate of change, functional, and non-functional improvements.

CANDIDATE PROFILE :

Education and Experience :

Required :

  • 7+ years experience in information technology with technical skills.
  • 5+ years experience with designing and implementing hardware lifecycle models for Android, iOS, MacOS, and Windows devices.
  • 3+ years experience designing and implementing endpoint management software (e.g., Intune, Workspace One, BigFix).
  • 3+ years experience with designing endpoint solutions that support CIS / NIST standards.
  • Technical infrastructure operations, administration, or engineering background.

Additional Preferred Experiences :

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical oversight of third-party resources and vendors.
  • 5+ years experience with hardware product selection globally.
  • 5+ years experience with Component Hardening for Windows Desktop OS using CIS Benchmarks.
  • 5+ years experience with Windows Desktop Engineering.
  • 3+ years experience with integrating with PowerBI, ServiceNow, and SIEM technologies.
  • Experience with Design Thinking.
  • Experience with SAFE Agile.
  • Excellent communication / reporting skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of current & emerging infrastructure systems & standards.
  • Strong knowledge of best available tools, software, applications, and systems for attaining best-in-class IT technology across the enterprise.
  • Excellent understanding of change management and testing requirements, techniques, and tools.
  • Ability to create constructive relationships, influence, and communicate effectively.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES :

  • Architects, designs, tests, and implements component hardening standards for endpoints.
  • Architects, designs, tests, and implements hardware lifecycle solutions and enhancements.
  • Architects, designs, tests, and implements Windows Operating Systems.
  • Architects, designs, tests, and implements compliance management solutions and enhancements.
  • Provides technical leadership, oversight, governance, and direction for contractors and managed service providers related to Marriott solution delivery.
  • Documents solutions and performs knowledge transfer via designs, build documents, and run guides to external service providers.
  • Translates and defines Continental IT, Global Procurement, and Business Partners requests into new features, enhancements, or modifications.
  • Conducts reviews of hardware lifecycle to assess effectiveness and documents improvement opportunities.
  • Advocates for any needed policy / engineering enhancements.
  • Provides technical expertise to project teams for successful project and change implementations.
  • Determines customer requirements and collaborates with sourced resources to develop solutions.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of technology products.
  • Institutes best practices and ensures proper alignment to projects and major initiatives.
  • Leads analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement.
  • Leads analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine the potential impact on existing and planned architectures.

Managing Projects and Priorities :

  • Functions as a strategic senior technical expert within the department.
  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Champions leaders’ vision for product and service delivery.
  • Makes and executes necessary decisions to keep moving forward toward the achievement of goals.
  • Provides direction and assistance to other teams regarding projects.
  • Determines priorities, schedules, plans, and necessary resources to promote timely project completion.
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Reviews vendor proposals and selects appropriate vendors for services / technologies / hardware.
  • Thinks creatively and practically to develop, execute, and implement new project plans.
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the quality of operations.

  • Understands and meets the needs of key stakeholders.
  • Communicates concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of business priorities.
  • Supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $179,270 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.

Washington Applicants Only : Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and are eligible to receive a minimum of 7 holidays annually.

Marriott HQ is committed to a hybrid work environment that enables associates to be connected. Headquarters-based positions are considered hybrid for candidates within a commuting distance to Bethesda, MD;

candidates outside of commuting distance to Bethesda, MD will be considered for Remote positions.
