Psychologist-Psychology Program Manager(Behavioral Health Integrated Program) at Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Responsibilities This position is located within the Psychology Service under the Behavioral Health Department at the Boise VA Medical Center (V AMC), Boise, Idaho.
The incumbent serves as the Psychology Program Manager for the Behavioral Health Integrated Program (BHIP). Duties include but are not limited to the following : Oversight of BHIP, to include responsibility for managing the day-to-day activities of that program.
Along with the Social Work BHIP Program Manager, the incumbent holds responsibility for the management of BHIP at the Boise VAMC, to include assuring compliance with VA rules and regulations.
Provides vital input for the development of appropriate clinical programming in BHIP that meets the needs of Veterans of varying age levels, presenting problems, and diagnoses.
The incumbent consults with and serves as a resource for providers from other specialties within the Boise V AMC. The incumbent helps to plan and oversee the completion of quality improvement or research projects and presents outcome data to hospital leadership as needed.
Responsibilities include management of program operations, oversight of patient flow (to include patient access and length of treatment), setting program priorities, delegating tasks, identifying deadlines, and generally providing clinical and administrative guidance and direction for staff.
The incumbent also participates in the recruitment and selection of new BHIP staff and orients new staff at the Psychology Service level.
Responsible for regularly reviewing clinical programming, consulting with Behavioral Health leadership, and making changes as needed to meet the needs of Veterans and the facility.
Reviews and ensures proper documentation of psychologists in BHIP ( e.g., OPPE / FPPE review) and ensures that appropriate evidence-based practices, research, and clinical practice guidelines are observed through staff education, supervision, and monitoring.
Holds responsibility for developing short- and long-term plans to meet the needs of the facility and Veterans and monitors and evaluates performance to ensure successful implementation of established processes.
The incumbent reviews quality management data ( e.g., access data, consult management, SAIL report, patient feedback), and, as needed, implements solutions to ensure projects are meeting the strategic goals of BHIP.
The incumbent is integral to the timely completion of program evaluations and documents required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, VISN, and VACO, ensuring compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies ( e.
g., Joint Commission) as appropriate. The incumbent monitors consults and ensures effective and timely disposition. Responsible for working with Behavioral Health leadership (Chief of Psychology, ACOS for Behavioral Health) to optimally deploy Psychology Service resources to meet the behavioral health needs of the facility, including prioritizing staffing requests and setting and modifying schedules to increase access to care and specialty services.
Provides a full range of psychological services. Provides consultation services for behavioral health and medical providers in outpatient, inpatient, residential, and community-based health care settings in areas such as differential diagnosis, treatment planning recommendations, recommendations regarding interventions with family or significant others, or in other clinical areas which are addressed by performance standards or clinical reminders.
Provides therapeutic interventions including individual and group psychotherapy and psychoeducational services. The incumbent supports the Chief of Psychology in ensuring efficient operation of the Behavioral Health Department clinical programs.
The incumbent interacts with Human Resources in matters of Psychology Service recruiting, hiring, and disciplinary action.
The incumbent may provide direct clinical supervision, training, and oversight to various disciplines and levels of training, including trainees seeking licensure in psychology (e.
g., graduate students, psychology interns, psychology doctoral fellows). The incumbent serves on medical center or healthcare System, VISN, and / or National VA committees or task forces as needed.

Currently, APA accredits doctoral programs in the specialty areas of clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, or combinations of two or more of those areas.
PCSAS accredits doctoral programs in psychological clinical science. CPA accredits doctoral programs in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and school psychology.
There are no job assignments in VHA that require the skills of a school psychologist; therefore, an applicant with a degree in the specialty area of school psychology is not eligible for appointment.
