What You Will Do :

We are currently searching for an MRI Technician to independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.

  • Perform MRI procedures at a tech level in accordance with protocols, performing both clinical and research scans.
  • Maintain proper quality control procedures.
  • Have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, researchers, medical staff, and the public.
  • Knowledge of concepts, standards, procedures, and equipment.
  • Be able to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and appropriate work area.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Adhere to employer work practices as described in Tolerable Daily Concentration (TDC) Occupational Exposure Plan policy.
  • Have knowledge of basic patient care and activities that may be necessary during exam.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Work as a team member within the imaging department and all other departments.
  • Document work processes as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need :

  • Completion of an accredited Radiology program, in lieu of a university degree
  • A minimum of SIX (6) years of experience, at least one (1) year of which is specialized MRI experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of current medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of imaging techniques to perform routine tests.
  • Knowledge of imaging equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.

What Would Be Nice To Have :

  • National registration with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists.
  • Experience providing input to streamline and improve research methods, including modification in equipment, MRI protocol parameters and software.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Familiarity with Siemens platform is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cardiac and chest imaging is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MRI-guided invasive procedures is preferred.
  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
  • Ability to properly position patients, MRI coils and ECG leads to provide quality imaging.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Complete understanding of MRI applications, including chest MRI.
  • Ability to operate equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot image quality solutions independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, researchers, medical staff, management, and peers.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
