ABOUT THE ROLE
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) seeks to hire a highly motivated and results-oriented database professional to join the Database & Donor Services Area.
Reporting to the Director, Database Management & Donor Services, the Database Associate is a full-time position responsible for entering gift records with accuracy and consistency and for reconciling Development revenue to Finance records.
They are knowledgeable in Blackbaud products, donor database best practices, and the fundamentals of fundraising. The Database Associate analyzes donor behavior, maintains the hygiene of the Raiser’s Edge database, assists with imports and exports to / from the Raiser’s Edge database, and supports donor analytics.
Primary responsibilities include :
With monthly gift volume ranging from 500 2,200 records, the Database Associate is the lead role for entering donations made to Development and Regional Event strategies.
They are also responsible for ensuring the accuracy and utility of donor records in support of high-touch donor stewardship. The incumbent :
- Enters Development and Regional Event gift data for Development revenue in Raiser’s Edge database.
- Runs reconciliation reports for the Finance department.
- Adjusts gift records as needed to account for gift moves, bounced checks, etc.
- Processes donations made by credit card
- Updates constituent information provided via donations to ensure constituents are stewarded accurately and in line with their preferences.
The Database Associate identifies emerging giving trends in an ever-changing philanthropic environment and collaboratively updates systems to accommodate new giving patterns and is adaptable to new gift tracking systems in the service of maximizing the quality of BCRF’s donor stewardship. The incumbent :
- Identifies opportunities for BCRF to update and / or streamline its gift entry processes.
- Completes special projects relating to data optimization, including regular review and merging of duplicate records and updating records to incorporate new coding structures.
The Database Associate also assists with additional office duties as needed. The ideal candidate sees themself pursuing a career in data, systems, and fundraising.
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications :
- Excellent organizational skills, decision-making abilities, and attention to detail.
- Strong data entry skills and ability to process high volume of donations on a daily basis.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines while ensuring on-time project completion.
- Enthusiasm for working as part of a team while working independently and with initiative and self-motivation.
- Known to exercise sound judgment with an emphasis on how to best steward BCRF’s donors and take initiative to seek out opportunities to contribute to team efforts.
Experience & Education :
- Minimum three to five years database experience (data entry, querying, reporting). Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge required.
- Strong computer skills, especially Word and Excel.
- Past nonprofit organization experience preferred.
- Proficiency with donor CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
Compensation :
This is a full-time non-exempt position and is overtime eligible. This position has an hourly rate of $28.00-$31.00 along with an exceptional benefits package focusing on employee physical, financial and mental wellness.
Location :
This position is based in New York City, New York. While performing the duties of this role, you would be expected to be in the office at least three days per week.
Physical Demands : :
- May require travel, which may require walking distances, lifting and carrying luggage and boxes, and prolonged periods of sitting in tight quarters.
- Significant computer work, which may require repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
- Occasional lifting (>
15 lbs.), bending, pulling, and occasional lifting, carrying, and / or moving boxes, files, etc., some of which could be heavy or require the use of carts.
Travel :
The position does require some local travel, as well as occasional travel to support events in and around the tri-state area.
