Compensation : Approximately $18.37 - $20.07 per hour. All individual pay rates are calculated based on the candidate's experience and internal equity.
Pay rate goes up once your training is completed and you have transitioned into a Dental Assistant role.

Overview of Role :
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- This position offers on-the-job training to aspiring Dental Assistants with little to no clinical background.
- Paid training will be provided over a period of 12 weeks to ensure trainees gain the competency needed to transition to a traditional Dental Assistant role.
- Training will consist of focused review of clinical education materials, independent course study and clinical shadowing.
- At the end of the training period, the trainee will have gained the necessary skills required to pass a competency assessment.
- Upon completion of the training program, the Dental Assistant trainee will be promoted to a dental assistant role.
- Dental Assistants perform duties to assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients (reception, chair-side assisting, inventory and dental record duties).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assists the dentist and hygienists in chair-side procedures routinely done in a general and pediatric dental practice.
- Responsible for preparation and setting up of instruments, materials, and equipment necessary for each procedure.
- Responsible for the sterilization of instruments, and the cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment and work areas.
- Occasionally schedules patients, and accurately records information on patient records.
- Exhibits positive leadership skills, actively striving to improve the patient and staff experience of Clinica, as well as strong communication skills, including willingness to grow and develop skills in motivational interviewing.
- Assist in processing encounters.
- Identify related medical and / or social problems.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and materials as well as maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of inventory.
- Assists with the training of new Dental Assistants.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
- HS diploma or GED.
- Previous experience desired, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority community.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Self-Directed Learning - The ability to identify one's learning needs, set goals, find resources, and evaluate progress independently.
- Consistency and Reliability - Demonstrated through punctuality, meeting deadlines, and maintaining a strong record of attendance.
