Description
The Senior Accountant will perform business, financial, and operations analysis to impact operating results and support the middle / senior management decision making processes.
Additionally, this person will conduct the closing activities for selected business units. This position will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly financial statements for selected business units and departments
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and revenue / expense account analyses
- Prepare analysis of financial results using both established and ad hoc reports
- Assist in developing financial performance standards, measurement and reporting tools
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and year-end audit
- Assist management in analyzing financial performance relative to financial plan and prior year
- Assist in the implementation of additional accounting software modules when applicable
- Analytical liaison between Accounting department and field management / operations
- Routine interaction with operating personnel from remote locations
- Occasional travel to multiple locations
- Coordinate and assist in preparation of monthly fixed assets and entry into fixed asset system
- Spearhead, coordinate and complete special projects as requested
Qualifications
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required from an accredited university
- High school diploma required
- 5-7 years of general ledger accounting experience, including monthly close responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge and passion for computer applications (Excel, Access, Microsoft Dynamics, and Blackline)
- Effective critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
- Ability to stay organized while managing deadlines and expectations
- Ability to work with a diverse set of management styles and personalities either independently or as part of a team
- Knowledge of transportation or 3PL operations desirable
