POSITION SUMMARY

The Risk and Safety Coordinator will assist in implementing the organization's occupational safety and health program; conduct safety inspections and training;

serve as consultant to departments on safety issues; and perform related duties as required .

The Risk and Safety Coordinator will help manage the organization's Workers' Compensation Program including the modified duty program;

prepare and maintain appropriate files and records; and maintain confidentiality .

The Risk and Safety Coordinator will conduct onsite risk assessments and training in our Colorado region. They are responsible for follow-up , documentation, and project management of the risk and safety program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services. Reviews and revises policies and procedures at least annually
  • Actively participates in concurrent case reviews to ensure that evidence-based best practices are implemented timely
  • Assist facilities, Home Office , and other departments in providing risk management support to staff members and investigating issues to conduct root cause analysis
  • Creates and delivers reports and presentations highlighting findings, identifying and explaining potential risks, and recommending solutions
  • Partners with the applicable departments on training programs, Injury and Illness Prevention, and Risk Management activities
  • Travels to facility locations as needed to conduct assessments and training
  • Conducts research on best practices in managing risk to support continuous improvement efforts
  • Maintains up-to-date information on the status of any claim, and any reserve changes, and communicates with the key stakeholders handling the claim.
  • Will ensure all safety and health training programs properly address workplace hazards / exposures and all employees receive training as required by the Injury and Illness Prevention.
  • The ability to conduct research , assemble data , analyze data, and advise / implement best solutions (policies, procedures, best practices, innovative changes , ) from analysis.
  • General knowledge of the principles and practices relating to insurance and risk management, occupational and / or industrial safety , and accident prevention;

of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations regarding employee

  • Requires working knowledge of office equipment, computers, and applicable software applications . Must be proficient in developing and utilizing electronic spreadsheets, guides, tables, and presentations.
  • Requires development and conduction of training programs. Requires effective communication (both orally and in writing), establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships with department directors, supervisors, and other employees to communicate firmly and tactfully in the enforcement of safety regulations.

  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and stakeholders

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • E xperience with Microsoft , PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience creating charts, graphs, reports, and compiling data
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to stressful situations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or 3 years experience in risk, health and safety or a related field preferred but not required
  • Experience with worker injury, auto liability, and general liability claims
  • Experience conducting safety inspections
  • Experience creating and developing training
  • Experience facilitating training
  • Experience tracking data including worker injury and restricted duty work data
