Description
This is an upstream hands-on mechanical process development role focused on inventing and developing breakthrough manufacturing processes and converting equipment technology to enable high speed production of new Baby Care products.
Responsibilities include brainstorming to identify innovative concepts with potential to deliver breakthrough and disruptive solutions.
Identifying key risks with a new machine concept and creating a test plan to rapidly understand feasibility. Rapidly design, build, and evaluate iterative prototypes in the lab starting with simple bench scale prototypes and ultimately delivering full scale prototypes that will integrate with pilot production equipment.
Extensive testing in the pilot research lab to experiment and develop a deep understanding for process capability. Laboratory testing to evaluate competing technology options.
Testing to understand, evaluate, and improve new technology offered from vendors of commercial equipment. Evaluation and statistical analysis of samples produced on test stands.
Example technologies that may be explored include web converting, bonding, cutting, placement of components, web handling, automated delivery and loading of materials to the converter, etc.
Recommend initial process flow and process equipment concepts based on transformational understandings from early test stands.
Demonstrate Proof of Concept and Proof of Principle for new processes and transformations that enable project teams to successfully scale up and roll-out new equipment for manufacturing.
