Library Collections Specialist II
Overview :
The , one of the oldest and most extensive art libraries in America, seeks two Library Collections Specialist II to join their team.
The collection of over 500,000 volumes covers world art and architecture from antiquity to the present and includes distinguished rare book holdings.
Marquand serves the Princeton University community and scholars from around the world and seeks to hire two hard working individuals to join our team as we embark on many new transitions.
The ideal candidates will be energetic, production- and service-oriented.
Being part of a branch library team demands that one be flexible in organizing and scheduling work activities, and the assistants must be able to identify priorities, manage their assigned workflows, and sustain productivity.
Beginning in Spring 2021 all Marquand public and back-end services moved into two Swing Public Service Points in Firestone Library, and one Staff Processing Area in 693 Alexander Road.
Marquand will be moving back to the renovated space in 2025. These staff members will be splitting their time between the two public service locations in Firestone Library and until the move back, the processing location at 693 Alexander.
These positions will collaborate daily with the staff both in Firestone Library locations and at 693 Alexander.
Two positions available, schedule is Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm
Responsibilities :
The successful candidates will :
Fulfill scan requests for Article Express / Document Delivery services and E-Reserves
Assist with receiving & processing large twice weekly from off-site storage
Assist with receiving & processing daily deliveries from local off-site storage
Assists with receiving and processing new gifts and auction catalogs
Be flexible with the changing needs of the department as we adjust to new workflows
Provides Public Service at Firestone’s Atrium & Scribner service points
Deliver material to offices outside of Firestone Library
Qualifications :
Essential Qualifications :
Minimum of one year of experience in an academic, research, or special library, or a public library with a research and / or special collections component, or comparable experience.
Knowledge and experience with integrated library systems, like Alma
Experience with scanning equipment
Excellent customer service skills and ability to prioritize assigned tasks
Ability to problem solve, work with limited direction, and function effectively as part of a team
Proficient written and oral communication skills in English
Ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree
Demonstrated experience providing high-quality customer or public service
Work experience with academic research libraries
Comfort scanning and sorting texts written in languages other than English
