Perform all operations necessary to support Environmental Controls, Incineration Services, and / or Solvent Recovery in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and maintain large, complex equipment (e.g. wastewater treatment plant, fume incinerators, commercial liquids and solids incinerators, distillation columns, bulk tanks, forklifts, yard tractors) while adhering to written instructions and / or training.
- Summarize observations and activities both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and working with fractions.
- Work well both independently and in a team environment.
- Perform troubleshooting and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Understand and follow the departmental expectations regarding attendance, accountability, and communication with supervision.
- Follow good documentation practices.
- Maintain the work area in a state of cleanliness and sanitation through good housekeeping practices.
- Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, & procedures.
- Familiarization and compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to cGMP, OSHA (24 Hour HAZWOPER), RCRA, EPA, IDEM, Title V, and DOT.
- Be proactive in addressing safety and quality concerns
- Actively participate in safety and continuous improvement teams
REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements
- Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including supplied air respirator.
- Able to lift up to 25 kg without assistance on a routine basis.
- Able to ascend / descend stairs, ladders, and platforms for equipment at various elevations.
- Able to enter and work in confined spaces occasionally.
- Able to work in a high noise / high temperature environment.
Working Conditions
- Hazardous conditions involving the use of acids, caustics, allergens, and other hazardous chemicals.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, days, and nights.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- Prior chemical manufacturing experience is preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Driver’s license
