Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced and skilled General Legal Counsel to join our team at
Healthcare startup. As General Legal Counsel, you will serve as the
main legal advisor to the company, providing strategic legal guidance and oversight to
ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will be reporting to the CEO
and responsible for managing all legal matters, including litigation, contracts, policies,
research, and governance, while also providing ethical guidance and support to the
organization.
Key Responsibilities :
Legal Advice : Advise management and executives on legal matters to maintain
compliance and minimize risk.
Risk Management : Identify and mitigate legal risks to the organization.
Compliance : Oversee legal compliance and ensure the company fulfills its legal
obligations.
Litigation : Develop and oversee litigation strategies, including managing outside
counsel.
Legal Contracts : Negotiate, draft and review contracts to ensure favorable terms
and minimize risk.
Policies : Draft, review, and approve legal policies and procedures to ensure
compliance and best practices.
Legal Research : Conduct legal research and stay informed on current legislation
and regulatory changes.
Communication : Communicate complex legal matters clearly and effectively to
stakeholders, including management, executives, and the board of directors.
Governance : Advise the board on legal matters related to their fiduciary
responsibilities.
Business Development : Facilitate business development while ensuring the
company operates within the law.
Ethical Guidance : Establish an ethical environment and act as the lead ethical
advisor to the organization.
Requirements :
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Minimum 10 years of experience as a legal counsel in a corporate setting.
Admitted to practice law in at least 2 US states.
Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, and litigation.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
