Position Overview
The janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the facilities. This includes daily cleaning tasks, managing waste disposal, and ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for all occupants.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- General Cleaning :
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, and countertops.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed.
- Empty trash cans and recycling bins, ensuring proper waste disposal.
- Maintenance of Common Areas :
- Clean and maintain lobbies, hallways, and other common areas.
- Ensure that windows and glass surfaces are cleaned regularly.
- Polish and clean fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Specialized Cleaning Tasks :
- Clean carpets and upholstery using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Clean and maintain outdoor areas, including sidewalks and parking lots.
- Safety and Compliance :
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely and appropriately.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Inventory and Supplies :
- Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Order new supplies as needed and ensure they are stored properly.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Work closely with other staff members to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding tasks and responsibilities.
- Provide feedback on the effectiveness of cleaning procedures and suggest improvements.
