General Purpose

Perform housekeeping and cleaning functions to maintain facility standards.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform cleaning procedures and waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy.
• Responsible for the proper use of housekeeping equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of chemicals contained within the facility.
• Report any area observed to be in poor repair to supervisor.
• Dispense soap, paper and other housekeeping supplies as directed.
• Perform work while following infection control procedures.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
• Use proper body mechanics and ask for assistance when moving heavy objects.
• Perform work in an inside environment with normal temperatures and adequate lighting, where possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens and unpleasant sights and smells may be present.
• Must be adaptable, flexible to changes, and able to prioritize and organize work efficiently to accomplish workload within time allotted.
• Maintain a positive attitude in relation to customer service program.
• Complies with established safety rules and regulations.
• Promptly reports accidents, incidents, and unsafe and hazardous conditions / equipment to supervisor.
• Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents rights.
• Abides by the facilitys policies, procedures and practices.
• Participates in and supports Quality efforts throughout the facility.
• Attends meetings and mandatory in-services.
• Knowledge and adherence to safety / disaster preparedness plan.
• All other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
• Experience in a long-term care facility or acute care center is preferred.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn position procedures, techniques and equipment.
• Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, residents families and employees.
• Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
• Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
• Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
