Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will cut piping systems for installation.

You will cut and thread pipes for installation. You will troubleshoot high-pressure piping systems and determines need for modification and / or repair to insure proper and safe operation.

You will demonstrate technical practices in order to determine need for modification and repairs. You will perform standard welding operations involving commonly used metals to meet weld dimensions, tolerances, strength, and other requirements.

You will utilize safety practices and procedures by following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

You will demonstrate the use of plumbing tools and equipment to make installations / repairs. You will interpret blueprints, charts and sketches to install or modification equipment.

  • Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You must show the ability to do the work of a PIPEFITTER without more than normal supervision performing : 1) Troubleshoot and test piping systems and equipment for proper circulation, flow, pressure and leak free joints;
  • 2) Plan and layout installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems and equipment including various kinds of piping, risers, and flexible branches at the proper level and incline;

3) Operate various hand and power tools and devices (e.g., hand and power pipe threaders and cutters, flanges, pipe wrenches, grinders, templates, sliding squares, measuring tapes, chalk lines, plumb bobs, etc.

Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.

Overtime or night differential pay and / or unusual duty hours may be required. PCS is not authorized. Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee.

A relocation incentive may be authorized. PHYSICAL EFFORT : Incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places.

The work involves standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. WORKING CONDITIONS : The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dust, and greasy.

May be required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions.

The work may involve exposure to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. May occasionally be exposed to the possibility of broken bones.

Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
