ABC Technologies’ core business as an Automotive Tier 1 supplier is in the Design, Development and Production of plastic automotive systems and components for OEMs worldwide.

About the Role - The "Americas Materials Management Lead", will be responsible for :

  • Researching potential vendors and negotiating prices
  • Coordinating directly with operations management to identify and forecast regional supply requirements
  • Developing solutions to existing processes, reducing waste, and increasing quantity
  • Tracking and assessing all materials quality, movement, and expenditures
  • Overseeing and managing the distribution of materials within the region.

Responsibilities -

Strategic Planning : responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for materials management that align with the overall goals and objectives of the company.

This includes setting goals, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), and establishing strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

Inventory Management : oversee the inventory control processes, including forecasting demand, ordering materials, monitoring stock levels, and managing inventory accuracy.

They ensure that adequate inventory is maintained to support production requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

  • Supplier Management : responsible for managing relationships with suppliers and vendors. This involves negotiating contracts, monitoring supplier performance, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Logistics and Distribution : coordinate logistics and distribution activities to ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.

This may involve managing transportation, warehousing, and distribution networks, optimizing routes, and minimizing transportation costs.

Quality Assurance : work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure that materials meet quality standards and specifications.

This includes implementing quality control processes, conducting inspections, and addressing any quality issues or non-conformities.

Qualifications -

Education : A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline is typically required.

Those with additional coursework or certifications in materials management, logistics, procurement, or supply chain management can be advantageous.

Required Skills

  • Technical Experience : 10-15 years in a relevant experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
  • Leadership Experience : 3-5 years, including progressively responsible leadership positions is essential, demonstrating the ability to manage teams, develop strategies, and drive results.
  • Automotive Industry Experience : extensive experience working in the automotive industry, preferably in parts manufacturing or related sectors.

This experience provides a deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, quality standards, and customer requirements.
