Essential Functions :

Primarily responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and management of all prevention and community service programs, ensuring their effective and efficient delivery within budget.

This includes maintaining high standards for program quality and ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission to improve the well-being of children, families, and communities.

  • Drive innovative initiatives that address emerging needs and enhance program effectiveness. This involves ensuring the integration of evidence-based practices and staying abreast of current trends to continuously improve program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer, leadership team, and multi-disciplinary teams to implement strategic plans that support the long-term sustainability and growth of prevention and community services.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of Directors responsible for overseeing parent and youth learning groups, housing services, prevention, and in-home services for children and families.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong collaborative partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to support resource sharing and ensure the successful delivery of prevention and community services.
  • Represent, market, and promote the program vision, goals, and achievements to drive growth, development, and alignment across the site, region, and other areas of jurisdiction.

This includes seeking expansion opportunities, leveraging alliances, referrals, and ensuring agency visibility and resource availability.

  • Engage in advocacy with policymakers, stakeholder groups, and other leaders to influence decisions that impact prevention and community services.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on program performance, outcomes, and impact to executive and senior leadership, as well as other stakeholders.
  • Assess and maintain knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and trends to recommend program adjustments that enhance program effectiveness and achieve positive outcomes for children, families, and communities.
  • Adhere to the agency's strategic plan and goals for operational growth, including interviewing, training, and evaluating employees for the site / region to ensure a competent, well-resourced workforce and effective provision of services.
  • Provide oversight, input, and supervisory consultation to administrative and managerial staff in charge of various functional service areas.

This includes addressing local site / regional matters, workforce management, programs, services, budget needs, and overall agency performance outcomes, with a focus on measuring and achieving Key Performance Indicators.

  • Confer with the Chief Operating Officer on budgetary and organizational recommendations for programs and services, ensuring adherence to agency and contractual policies, practices, and regulations for fiscal management, revenue / expense tracking, census monitoring, and reporting towards agency objectives.
  • Ensure regular travel to each site and surrounding counties for work-related responsibilities, with a home office based on the office of programming nearest to the candidate’s residency.

Knowledge and Ability Requirements :

  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based approaches in prevention services, counseling, in-home services, and community support initiatives, including trauma-informed care and family-centered practices.
  • Proven ability to oversee and implement complex programs, monitor their effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions to enhance outcomes and achieve program goals.
  • In-depth understanding of partnership strategies with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance service delivery and resource sharing.
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to effectively represent the organization, influence policy decisions, and engage in various forums and networks.
  • Expertise in budget development and management, ensuring efficient resource use and compliance with financial guidelines and reporting requirements.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including team building, performance management, and professional development within a nonprofit or human services setting.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and continuous improvement processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality, impactful services.
  • Cultural competence and ability to collaborate with and coach a diverse staff, with sensitivity to the workforce and service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education and Experience :

A Master of Social Work (MSW) or a master’s degree in a related human service field is required, along with a minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience in child and family services and / or community development.

Experience managing multiple programs and staff across various locations is preferred. Must demonstrate a strong ability to plan, budget, organize, and communicate effectively in a management role.

Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Spanish is preferred.

Physical Demands and Other Requirements :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms.

Capable of operating standard office equipment, including a computer and keyboard, and typical business machines such as a fax machine and copier.

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 20-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee is required to have valid driver’s license, auto insurance and must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.

The work environment characteristics include a noise level which is usually low to moderate.

Supervision and Management : Communicates regularly through individual, supervisory and group meetings to implement Agency and programmatic goals and requirements.

Provides accurate and timely feedback to each employee under his / her supervision and demonstrates ability to analyze employee performance.

Facilitates a positive work environment where staff feel free to communicate openly. Responds to incidents and complaints in a timely manner and appropriately informs and consults with their chain of command.

Leadership : Demonstrates foresight in recognizing problems and vision in identifying and implementing solutions. Ensures program is effective in producing desired outcomes and program goals and deliver services at required capacity.

Demonstrates ability to quickly gather pertinent facts, weigh options and make decisions in critical situations while informing and consulting with others as needed.

Works with staff to support and implement management decisions.
