JOB SUMMARY : The Rental Equipment Delivery Driver is responsible for receiving, shipping, delivery and picking up equipment for the Cat Rental Store (CRS).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Safety
- Actively cares, promotes, manages, and advocates safety at Western States. As a team member in the organization, it is critical to ensure all employees, vendors, and clients have a safe work environment while adhering to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
- Maintains clean / clutter free personal work areas to ensure safe environment for all WSECO employees.
- Adhering to required personal protective equipment (PPE) as identified in safety policy.
Essential Functions :
- Delivers and picks up rental equipment using Class 8 truck with loads weighing up to 70,000 lbs.
- Loads and unloads equipment onto trailer, following all safety requirements to ensure equipment is secured properly.
- Determines most efficient route based on load weight, road, and traffic conditions.
- Maintains an electronic Driver’s Logbook as required by DOT regulations.
- Operates multiple different brands of equipment including CAT, Genie, JLG, GME, and more.
- Follows DOT rules and regulations regarding oversize loads and permits. Administers daily inspection requirements. Meets all DOT driver qualifications rules and regulations.
Maintains current CDL.
- Instructs customer on proper equipment use and safety procedures.
- Promptly communicates equipment damages to Rental Coordinators to be resolved with rental client.
- Reports equipment issues (low tire, broken window, fault code, etc) to Lead Technician so it can be resolved in a timely manner.
- Utilizes company provided tablet / phone to retrieve dispatch information, and document pictures of equipment for future reference.
- Assists on service tasks for CRS as needed.
- Reports any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery of equipment.
- Reports all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment. Reports highway safety hazards noted in route.
- Maintains delivery truck appearance and mechanical condition of truck.
- Professionally represents Western States and The CAT Rental Store, adhering to all customer care standards .Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States.
Adhere to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
- Serves as a team member in support of Western States’ strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
- Work within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES :
- Working knowledge of CAT and other brands of construction equipment.
- Knowledge of DOT legal requirements
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills required.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision required.
- Ability to work overtime with minimum notice required.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Consistent attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Valid Class A - CDL driver’s license with excellent driving record and current DOT physical card required.
- Minimum of six months commercial driving experience with over the road tractor & trailer experience required.
- Minimum of six months in usage and operation of light construction equipment preferred.
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS :
- Ability to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitively climbing stairs, reaching (including but not limited to above-shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
- Ability to generate 97 ft. / lbs. of force, by pushing and pulling.
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 60lbs from the ground and place on a shelf / platform set up to 65 inches off the ground.
- Ability to carry up to 20 lbs. while repeatedly ascending / descending a minimum of ten, 8 stair steps.
- Ability to repeatedly ascend / descend a minimum of 10 rungs on various ladders.
- Ability to assemble / disassemble various sizes of nuts and bolts, while repeatedly bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and / or crouching.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures and environment.
- Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
