Job Details : Grade III Peer Support Specialist or Peer Recovery Coach
- Vacancy NameGrade III Peer Support Specialist or Peer Recovery Coach Peer Support Specialist : An employee in this position is required to perform some or all of the following : engage persons served hospitalized for treatment of a mental illness into Community Mental Health services, using a recovery focus;
- provide services in therapeutically-orientated activities and skills training programs and / or in follow-up outpatient / aftercare programs;
- oversee and conduct various activities such as didactic groups, community trainings, community caregivers, life skills development and individual or team activities;
- instruct and / or assist in self-care, grooming, personal hygiene, and other activities of daily living; assist with development of independent living skills;
- guide development of work skills, supervise work activities, and document work performance; assist in implementing IPOS to increase service recipients abilities in areas of academics, social interaction, gross and fine motor coordination;
- transport persons served to and from program or on planned activities or field trips; document performance, behavior, and treatment progress;
- use approved Continuum of Intervention techniques in a safe and appropriate manner as needed; provide medication administration and observe / record response;
- assist casemanager / support coordinator in casemanagement activities; assist persons served / family / support system in dealing with community based services / systems;
- comply with Transportation Policy (09-002-0010), Alcohol & Drug Testing Policy (06-001-0010), and Background Check Policy (06-001-0015), as well as supervisors / designee directives;
maintain confidentiality.
- Peer Recovery Coach : An employee in this position is required to perform some or all of the following : work with individuals who have active addictions as well as those already in recovery through one-on-one coaching and support;
- maintain long term stable recovery; willing to publicly self-identify as being in recovery from a mental health, substance use, or addiction diagnosis;
- facilitate community based peer recovery support groups; function as an advocate and promote self-advocacy; role model positive recovery behaviors;
- help individuals develop a network of recovery supports; provide services in therapeutically-orientated activities and skills training programs and / or in follow-up outpatient / aftercare programs;

Minimum QualificationsTechnical Skills
- Education : *
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Other :
Valid driver's license
- If using Agency vehicles, passing random drug and alcohol screening
- Must have access to personal vehicle
- Experience / Certifications : *
- Experience as a recipient of privately- or publicly-funded mental health services AND Certified Peer Support Specialist or the ability to become certified
- Experience as a recipient of substance use services AND experience as a recipient of privately- or publicly-funded treatment and recovery services for addiction(s) AND at least two (2) years sustained recovery, self- identifying as a person in recovery from a substance use or addiction diagnosis
