The Role
GovExec Events seeks an Events Manager based in the DMV area. Events that GovExec organizes include webcasts, roundtables, editorial series, workshops, summits, and both in-person and virtual conferences.
As the Events Manager, you will be a critical player in managing a portfolio of in-person and digital event experiences for the public sector.
You will see events through from conceptualization to execution, and support colleagues on their events. Although this position is remote, you must be able to travel 50% of the time for events.
In this role, here are some of the projects you would have tackled last week :
- Set up a Zoom meeting and managed logistics for an online, pre-recorded interview with U.S. public sector leadership.
- Worked with our virtual conference production company to finalize details-content upload, pre-recordings, leading prep calls, etc.
- for an upcoming virtual workshop
- Created a kick-off call agenda for a client who's hosting an upcoming in-person half-day event on artificial intelligence
- Participated in an internal and external kick-off with key stakeholders including the dedicated project team, client point of contact(s), and program account manager
- Worked with our internal design team to create design graphics / assets and build out event microsite
- Set up and staffed registration at an in-person white-label event
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute events ranging in format and size including :
- Webcasts with 150+ viewers
- In-person and digital workshops with 100+ attendees with 5-10 event sponsors
- In-person and digital summits featuring live-streamed sessions, experiential networking opportunities, and multiple underwriters / sponsors
- Digital TV programs, recorded in a modern production facility
- Custom white-label event projects
- Serve as the event's project manager, owning the program timeline and daily communications with clients; internal executives, staff, and colleagues;
relevant speakers, program participants, vendors, and other external partners
- Serve as the event's logistics manager, owning the logistics and overall attendee experience, as well as the related day-to-day communications with internal stakeholders, relevant speakers, other program participants, vendors, and other external partners
- Research event venues and negotiate terms and conditions
- Plan food & beverage and venue set-ups
- Work with vendors to coordinate printing, shipping, audio-visual, and other event needs
- Lead on-site management
- Meet or exceed budgetary goals through vendor contract negotiation and other creative cost efficacy measures
- Be an enterprising, entrepreneurial, and productive team contributor, constantly and eagerly identifying new means of innovation to grow GEMG's impact with all constituents in advance of, on-site, and following each event produced
- Opportunity to additionally manage responsibilities and tasks based on interests, experiences, and organizational needs
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience
- Interest in national affairs, politics, business, and the arts
- Ability to manage complex and fast-changing program elements and prioritize effectively in response
- Creative and strategic thinking with an emphasis on customer service to meet client objectives for an event
- Persuasive communication, effective negotiation skills, and the ability to negotiate contracts
- Meticulous attention to detail and superior organizational skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit, track record of initiative, and ownership of work
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

The compensation range for this role is $65,000 to $73,000 per year.
