About this position

The inclusion supervisor is responsible for planning and organizing referral and special needs services for the organization’s Early Learning and School-age programs.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supervising, assessing, and training the inclusion coordinators and inclusion specialists to support the successful inclusion of all children;
  • Assisting the inclusion and wellness manager with maintaining program operations to ensure compliance with inclusion requirements for federal and state regulations in both School-age and Early Learning programs;
  • Acting as the liaison between school districts and community partners for inclusion and special needs services;
  • Using data to plan and identify training needs and other resources for enrolled children and families;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of the referral process for comprehensive services;
  • Modeling appropriate teaching strategies in supporting children with special needs;
  • Collaborating with the inclusion team to develop and deliver high-quality professional development opportunities (i.e.
  • training, coaching, and other technical assistance activities) to enhance educational effectiveness and student learning related to increasing outcomes for children with special needs;
  • Serving as a reference and resource to parents, school staff, administrators, and outside agencies;
  • Reflecting program needs to the inclusion and wellness manager and participate in program assessments and management meetings;
  • Reading and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;
  • Promoting full enrollment and participate in the recruitment of children as directed;
  • Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis according to organization policies and procedures;
  • Assisting the inclusion and wellness manager as needed;
  • Actively participating in staff meetings and the annual in-service;
  • Abiding by all of Options for Learning’s policies and procedures;
  • Attending trainings as required;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, child development, education, or other human services field; or associate degree in child development, education, or other human services field and 5 years of related experience working with children ages 0-14;
  • Master’s degree in special education or another related field (preferred);
  • Formal training in special education for infant-toddler, preschool, and / or school-age children;
  • Three years of experience delivering intervention / special education services to children;
  • Ability to scaffold support to administrators, teachers, and other professionals in a manner that builds their capacity to design and deliver quality inclusive practices in early learning settings;
  • Preferred knowledge of rules, applicable laws, regulations, and procedures governing early learning programs and the ability to communicate that knowledge to childcare personnel and parents :
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • State and licensing regulations; Head Start Performance Standards
  • Current certification in pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid acceptable to Community Care Licensing (Health and Safety Code 1596.
  • 866), and to be renewed every 2 years;
  • Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
  • California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and current automobile liability insurance;
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese (preferred);

Job specifications

  • Reports to the inclusion and wellness manager;
  • Exempt, full-time, twelve-month work year;
  • Eight-hour workday; Four-day work week;
  • Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule may be available and to be determined by management;
  • Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at organization discretion.

Salary

  • $78,000 to $86,0000 per year
