The Brain Injury Counselor II provides individual and group support to the members of the Brain Injury Community Center (BICC).
Through assessment and development of Action Plan goals, works in partnership with Center members to improve life skills and self-determination within the established work areas of the Center, as well as in social and community activities.
In addition, Brain Injury Counselor II positions provides specific expertise for and / or leadership in one or more Center work areas, including Employment / Education (EE) area;
Communication, Art, and Social Recreation (CASR) area; Intake, Orientation, Outreach, and Housing (IOOH) area; and / or Health, Wellness, and Life Skills (HWLS) area.
The Brain Injury Counselor II also :
- Functions as an advisor for Center members. Assesses, develops, and implements Action Plans with members in the work or social area of their choice.
- Promotes a supportive and empowering services environment in which members learn to advocate for themselves, make their own choices, take risks, and assume additional responsibilities.
- As a Center generalist, provides support to Center members in all work areas : teaches; coaches; facilitates and supports (instruction, assistance, modeling, and reinforcement) skill development for all work area members.
Provides meaningful work opportunities within the work area and encourage membership participation in all work area activities.
Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements
Vaccine Mandate Policy
All new employees, interns, and volunteers within Vinfen's Massachusetts programs will be required to be fully vaccinated (14 days beyond last shot of Pfizer or Moderna or 14 days beyond receiving a Johnson and Johnson vaccine), or have received the first shot in a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) with an appointment scheduled for the second dose.
A 2nd dose must be received within six weeks of hire and the first shot prior to New Employee Orientation or have an approved exemption for medical or religious reasons by the first day of employment with Vinfen. Job Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree preferred. In some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training.
- One to three years' experience in human services field required. Advanced training, experience, or professional credentials are required for Center Counselor II positions.

- A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment. Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least one year
- CPR and First Aid required within two weeks of hire. Safety Care is required within 90 days of hire. Crisis Intervention / Staff Safety and Infectious Diseases within 6 months of employment.
ServeSafe may be required within six months of hire if applicable. All trainings are offered by Vinfen upon hire
Must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference, multi-state background and driving record check
