Job Description

Job Summary : As a Licensed Plumber at Brown and Root Industrial Services, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in industrial facilities and construction projects.

Your expertise and skills will ensure that plumbing systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations.

You will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality plumbing services to our clients and contribute to the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities :

Installation and Maintenance :

Install and assemble plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, valves, and fittings, according to blueprints, specifications, and building codes.

Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and longevity of plumbing systems, including inspections, cleaning, and lubrication.

Diagnose plumbing problems, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs or replacements as necessary to restore functionality.

Pipefitting and Welding :

Fabricate, cut, thread, and bend pipes using hand and power tools to fit required specifications and layouts.Perform welding and soldering tasks to join pipes and fittings, ensuring watertight seals and structural integrity.

Install and repair specialty piping systems, such as steam, gas, and compressed air lines, following safety procedures and industry standards.

Testing and Inspection :

Conduct pressure tests, leak tests, and flow tests to verify the integrity and performance of plumbing systems.Inspect and evaluate existing plumbing installations for compliance with codes, regulations, and quality standards.

Document test results, inspections, and maintenance activities accurately and comprehensively.

Safety and Compliance :

Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.Ensure that all plumbing work is performed in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and permits, such as UPC, IPC, and OSHA regulations.

Identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks associated with plumbing activities, and report safety concerns to supervisors.

Team Collaboration :

Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians, HVAC technicians, and carpenters, to coordinate work activities and ensure integrated project delivery.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and clients to provide updates on project status, challenges, and solutions.

Support and assist other team members as needed to achieve project goals and objectives.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills :

  • Valid journeyman or master plumber license issued by the appropriate state authority.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a licensed plumber in industrial or commercial construction settings.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience with pipefitting, welding, and soldering methods and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, coworkers, and subcontractors.

Certifications :

  • Journeyman or Master Plumber License (required).
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
  • Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification (preferred).
