Job Description

Overview :

Performs general facility maintenance. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors and conveyor systems, in addition performs general nursery work.

Here’s what you’ll do :

• Troubleshoots and repairs basic nursery equipment
• Adjusts functional parts of equipment and control devices
• Repairs or replaces defective parts
• Part sourcing : electronic, etc.
• Performs preventative maintenance
• Handyman duties : plumbing, electrical, electronics and other building maintenance
• Inspects equipment for all defects. Informs supervisor if any defects are found
• Efficiently operates electronic devices such as iPads and computers
• Safely operates large equipment such as : forklift, boom lifts, and other maintenance equipment
• Assist with training in job responsibilities and safety procedures.
• Preparing and packing trees for field delivery (loading / unloading)
• Cleaning equipment and facilities
• Maintaining and repair irrigation system
• Performs all tasks in a safe manner. Required to wear all safety gear assigned and asks for instructions when unfamiliar or lacking knowledge of proper safety procedures
• Be a self-motivated and flexible team player with a strong work ethic
• Perform other responsibilities related to farming or as directed by supervisor
• May be required to make repairs on farming chemical equipment

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table :

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Typical Maintenance Mechanic will have at least 1-year maintenance experience in a manufacturing / food processing environment
• Trade school / occupational training desired but not required
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish is highly desired but not required
• Must be able to occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds
