Lead Quality Assurance Inspector

Job Summary

Inspects, audits and reports on materials, processes, products, and calibrated equipment used in the manufacturing of buttons, switches, and subsystems using variable or attribute measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance of requirements and quality standards.

Support Quality Representative / Quality Manager in the following activities : Material Review Board (MRB); determining Key Performers Indicators (KPIs) for receiving, in-process and final inspection.

Perform visual, mechanical and electrical inspection of purchased and fabricated parts. Identify manufactured defects and work with production to reduce quality defects.

Assist in providing leadership for the Quality Team and setting daily priorities. Assist with Gage Calibration process and completing FAIs for customers.

This position works with minimal supervision and is expected to set appropriate priorities based on business requirements.

Examples of Essential Functions :

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

• Review and improve the inspection standards used by Staco Systems to confirm that they meet the quality requirements of customers and Certification Standards (AS9100)
• Assist in the corrective action process associated with MRB or audit programs related to final inspection of our product by providing detailed discrepancy reports.
• Approves production and incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
• Complete AS9102 first article documentation package. Perform oversight in the first article inspection activities. Work with other departments to resolve issues found.
• Ability to use and understand the accuracy limitations of all mechanical measuring tools (i.e., comparators, micrometers, calipers, hardness testing, etc.)
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and specifications including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing(GD&T).
• Basic knowledge of electronics and ability to read schematics required
• Must be proficient and understand the use of electronic test equipment (DVM, Dielectric Tester, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes)
• Ability to offer design input for test set ups to improve production quality.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications Guidelines

Education / training / experience :

• A 2 year technical degree or a combination of education and equivalent experience
• Must be familiar with ISO 9001, AS9100, QS9000 or TS-16949
• Must have experience working with electro-mechanical products
• Previous experience testing electrical products required
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of :

This position requires knowledge of inspection processes, mechanical and electrical test equipment as well as a basic understanding of manufacturing processes related to electro-mechanical assemblies.

• Ability to move throughout plant as required
• Ability to sit and operate a computer workstation and microscope
• Good eyesight and finger dexterity
• Works well with all levels of employees
