WYTV / WKBN-TV in Youngstown, Ohio has an immediate opening for a weekday morning Newscast Producer with solid news judgment, strong writing skills, a great work ethic and the passion to win.
This is a weekday position with our morning news team. You’ll work with other producers and anchors to help set the agenda for the day in the market.
We need someone energetic and creative - if you like to think big picture, look past the obvious and break stories, this could be a great move for you.
Qualified applicants should be able to handle time management, tight deadlines, and be able to work well under pressure.
This position will require the ability to work independently and multi-task. Monitor phones, scanners, emails, websites, and sister stations for story ideas and to assign crews and make beat calls.
Producers in our newsroom are working journalists. You will be rewriting wire, feed, and reporter stories to fit one of the two brands on our three network affiliated stations here in Youngstown.

JOB SUMMARY : The producer delivers and contributes accurate, visual, and compelling news content across all media platforms.
Overnights, nights and weekend shifts may be required; candidate must be willing and able to work any and all shifts, including holidays.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
- Responsible for evaluating stories; organizing them into a cohesive sequence within a newscast or digital content for the web.
- Write, edit, and order news stories
- Write, produce, and edit material that appeals to target audiences.
- Research topics using the internet, video archives, and other information sources.
- Communicate with managers and teams in the field daily
- Pitch story ideas in editorial meetings
Specialized Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Must be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production, and engineering staff.
- Detail oriented; proficient in non-linear editing.
- Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills.
- Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations.
- Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
- Ability to meet quality standards for service & evaluate customer satisfaction.
- Proficient in video editing.
Education / Experience : Degree in Journalism, Communications, TV / film or equivalent experience and training
Training / Equipment : Utilize state-of-the-art television technology; MS Outlook, E-mail.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements : High stress environment with deadline pressures. The News Producer must be able to sit, reach, conduct telephone, video conferencing, and face-to-face conversations with individuals or groups.
Use electronic mail, write news copy, clearly communicate to co-workers and viewers, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers.
