Radiation Physicist - FT Days

Description

Under general direction is responsible for radiation physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Responsible for maintenance and proper calibration of all radiation and survey equipment.

Participates in Medical Center's Radiation Safety Program and is a member of the Medical Center's Radiation Safety Committee.

Oversees Radiology and Nuclear Medicine physics support.

Core Competencies

• Ensures proper calibration of all radiation equipment in Department of Radiation Oncology.
• Maintains radiation survey equipment for the Medical Center.
• Establishes and reviews standards and procedures for radiation safety, including instruction of all appropriate personnel.
• Monitors procedures related to handling of radioactive materials.
• Performs initial and weekly patient chart checks and dose calculations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of clinical norms for all age groups as applicable to job functions.
• Acts as staff liaison to Medical Chairperson of Radiation Safety Committee.
• Participates in equipment evaluation and makes recommendations to the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology and Director of Radiation Oncology.
• Solves problems using creativity and teamwork while maintaining value based behaviors.
• Contours treatment fields and calculates treatment dose in treatment planning software (Varian Eclipse) under the prescription orders of the Radiation Oncologist.
• Performs computer aided dosimetry, including 3D and IMRT treatment planning and dose calculations for prescribed doses by Radiation Oncologists.
• Maintains Quality Control records on radiation equipment.
• Serves on the Radiation Safety Committee.
• Oversees Radiology and Nuclear Medicine physics support.
• Answers physics related questions from outside sources.

• Works with TMMC and other medical center departments to maintain proper treatment plans and dosimetry on radiation oncology patients.

Compensation Range

$228,300- $392,080 / Annually
