Aluminum Casting Operator
The Aluminum Casting Operator performs tasks related to the casting of aluminum such as preparing the casting area for production, beginning and maintaining the cast, collecting samples, and aiding other departments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities ( Include the following. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management)
- Organization and housekeeping of the casting area, cleaning and basic maintenance of related equipment
- Completes pre-cast setup to the requirements of the casting operation
- Inspects casting setup for correctness and to ensure successful cast
- Collects metal samples during casting and delivers them for quality testing
- Removes, replaces and setup drain pans for continuous operation
- Operates remote control crane as required
- Performs minor repairs and cleaning of tooling
- Services troughing, molds and additional equipment as necessary pre and post cast
- Monitor cast for any defects and notify supervisor if necessary
- Completes reports and logs as necessary
- Notifies Control Room Operator and or Supervisor of any shortages in consumables
- Notifies Control Room Operator and or Supervisor of any potential concerns or issues in production
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications :
3+ years manufacturing experience. Metal and hot metal preferredIndependent critical thinking and troubleshootingHands-on approach to resolve issues, minimize waste, continuously improveBasic computer skills (HMI, ERP (Syteline, Excel)Interpret specification sheets as they relate to product and / or processEmployee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, Visa sponsorship is not available for this positionMust pass minimal physical test and background screeningCandidates must be able to work any shift (will need to specify what the shifts are)Willingness to cross trainPhysical requirements : Standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing and moving up to 50 lbs. This environment has fluctuating temperatures – hot in the summer and cold in the winter. An individual must be aware of their surroundings at all times.
