WorkingHours

The Phlebotomist willnormally work from Monday through Thursday from 7 : 30am to 4 : 00pmwith a 30minute unpaid lunch break.

The Phlebotomist will not workmore than 32 hours a week.

Summaryof Duties

The Phlebotomist willprovide Phlebotomy Services for the prison population at theFederal Transfer CenterOklahoma Bureau of Prisons.

This includesprovided but not limited to collection of blood and urine samplespreparation and tracking of all laboratory samples biologicalspecimen preparation and packaging for shipment and maintaininglaboratory logs and other records as necessary to comply withClinical Laboratory Inspection Amendment (CLIA)guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Laboratory Assistant EmergencyMedical Technician or Phlebotomist certifications to practice inOklahoma.
• Experience with specimen collectionpackaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge ofmaintaining appropriate records must be shown onresume.
• Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or theAmerican Heart Association (AHA).
• Three (3)Letter of Reference is required.

Attire

The contractor is expected to wear professional clothingwhile on duty (scrub uniforms are

approved).The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctionalenvironment in which

the contract employee willbe performing.

Duties andResponsibilities

• Collection of blood and urine samplespreparation and tracking of all laboratorysamples.
• Daily maintenance of laboratoryequipment notify the laboratory manager when the equipment requiresprofessional maintenance repair.
• Biologicalspecimen preparation and packaging for shipment to contractlaboratories.
• Maintain laboratory logs andother records as necessary to comply with Clinical LaboratoryInspection Amendment (CLIA) guidelines.
• Keepthe laboratory manager informed of all information pertaining tothe services rendered i.e. specimens obtained; and reporting anyproblems arising regarding laboratory services Require directentries into the inmates medical record.
• Assistthe Physician Physician Assistant and / or Nurse with patient flow ina clinic setting by measuring the patients vital signs and weightand scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic MedicalRecord (BEMR).
• Organize schedule and performlaboratory studies specimen collection and process within theHealth Service Unit to include A&O inprocessing DNA perprocedure vaccine programs and PPDupdates.
• Prepare and ensure specimens arepacked and transported according to the contract or Bureau ofPrison Reference Laboratory and document per Health Services UnitLaboratory Procedures.
• Ensure that laboratoryrequests are completed properly and all reports are returned fromthe contract laboratory provider notified log results in asreceived follow up appropriately and file results in laboratory andmedical record / COPIA.
• Acquire and maintainknowledge of the Program Statement for Laboratory Services and UnitProcedures necessary to accomplish the mission described hereinensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updatedaccordingly.
• Assist the Health ServiceAdministrator (HSA) or his / her designee in the coordination of BOPand Contract Reference Lab contact CLIA recertification maintenanceof equipment and notification of neededsupplies.
• Assist the HSA and Clinical Directorwith writing and implementing policies that deal with thelaboratory program.
