Position Overview :

We are keen on welcoming a virtual paralegal who :

  • Holds expertise in family law
  • Comes with a minimum of three years of experience in this area
  • Has been engaged in a law firm setting within the past six months
  • Is technologically proficient, especially with Word, Excel, Adobe, and video conferencing platforms

Equivity works closely with our clients to provide them with virtual paralegals who are experienced in their field and have successfully worked in a remote or virtual environment.

You can expect to :

  • Operate with significant independence.
  • Be responsible for maintaining timely communication with clients between 9am 6pm with a close responsiveness commitment.
  • Experience the freedom and flexibility of working from the comfort of your home.
  • The selected paralegal will come on board as a W-2 employee (not a 1099 independent contractor) for a minimum of 30 hours / week.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of recent experience working as a paralegal in family law
  • Strong soft skills, including the ability to manage dynamic conditions and remain proactive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative on assigned tasks
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in legal research platforms, document management systems, video conferencing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Resourceful problem solver who can find creative solutions to challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Availability to respond to requests within an hour during the hours of 9 am - 6 pm, Monday Friday
  • Your own laptop and smartphone with broadband access to the Internet
  • Quiet location in which to make and take phone calls

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE :

  • Draft legal documents, including letters, pleadings, motions, and affidavits
  • Manage and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in a professional manner
  • Assist attorneys in hearing and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating witnesses
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling appointments and hearings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and effective case management
