This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Junior Paralegal to join our team in our Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, or Los Angeles offices.

If in our Seattle office, we offer a hybrid work engagement. If in our Portland, San Francisco, or Los Angeles office, this position offers the flexibility to be fully remote while working within reasonable commuting distance from any of our offices.

  • This position supports an innovative client project team that handles a variety of legal requests. Primary responsibilities include drafting responses to legal requests such as subpoenas, arbitration demands, or small claims;
  • submitting requests for data to client; overseeing tracking systems; data entry; serving as a liaison with the client; drafting correspondence;

and escalating legal questions. Close attention to detail, sound judgment, excellent writing skills, and careful organization are needed.

The position also requires multi-tasking and strong interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment.

On a typical day you will :

  • Type, format, and edit correspondence and legal documents, with short notice and tight deadlines
  • Collect, organize, and save data and documents
  • Submission of data requests to client
  • Analyze basic legal requests and escalate for attorney review, as needed
  • Review documents in Relativity and assist in managing production of documents
  • Communicate by telephone, email, and mail with project team members; clients; and counsel and other legal professionals outside the firm
  • Answer, screen, and respond to phone calls
  • Accurately and completely record billable time spent and tasks performed in accordance with firm policy and client-imposed billing protocols;

enter and release time promptly in compliance with the firm's announced deadlines

  • Enter data into tracking systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Join us if you have :

  • 2+ years as a legal professional (legal assistant or paralegal) or substantial law-related undergraduate coursework with paralegal training
  • A four-year college degree
  • Interest in technology in the workplace and technology companies
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently
  • Strong skills in word processing and computer use : ability to type 65 wpm with high accuracy
  • High attention to detail and sensitivity to confidential materials
  • High level of energy; able to work at a fast pace; multitask; and prioritize tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, service focused environment and to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat or Nuance
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and organizational skills
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions
  • Availability and willingness to work overtime as needed or requested
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with all levels of a professional services organization, including interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service, analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a team player and have ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Previous experience in a law firm or professional services organization, supporting a multi-office environment, preferred

Washington State

The annualized salary range for this position in Washington is $78,000 to $87,000 ($40.00 - $44.62 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate's education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, 11 paid holidays each year and an employee assistance program.

For full-time employees, the initial vacation benefit is 15 days per year and 11 days of sick leave per year, accrued bi-weekly.

Additional voluntary programs include : voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, and pet insurance.

Commuter and Transit programs are also available.

California

The annualized salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $76,000 to $81,600 ($38.97 - $41.85 hourly); and in San Francisco is $83,000 to $89,000 ($42.

56 - $45.64 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
