Purpose of Your Position
The essential functions of your job are the following :
To carry out the essential functions of mental health services.
Administers mental health services with local, state, federal codes and regulations and corporate policies and procedures based on acuity of residents.
Sufficient verbal and written communication skills to perform task required.
Delegation of Authority
Mental Health Worker is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to carry out your assigned duties.

Administrative Functions
Act as group leader for assigned caseload.
Monthly and PRN documentation in patient record.
Assures and documents group attendance for each participant for assigned caseload.
Co-facilitates group counseling per program schedule and individual counseling as needed.
Provides input in weekly rounds and quarterly meetings.
Responsible for assuring patients ADL's are complete and carrying out general unit functions.
Professional growth and behavior.
Attendance at all weekly mandatory staff and in-service meetings.
Performance of assigned daily duties.
Monitoring patient safety.
Crisis intervention and management.
Non-Violent Crisis Management.
Carrying out interventions specified on the patient care plan.
Treating all patients with dignity and respect.
Performance of other duties as requested by supervisor.
Other Responsibilities
Open and monitor activity rooms.
Respond to any request for emergency codes.
Assist, if needed, in the dining room duties.
Assist CNAs with monitoring hallways and rooms for resident safety.
Assist nursing staff if needed in emergency situations with transportation of any resident outside the facility.
Staff Development
Attend and participate in all mandatory in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs.
Duties and responsibilities assigned for the safe and continued operations of the facility.
Safety and Sanitation
Reports all unsafe / hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your Supervisor immediately.
Equipment and Supply Functions
Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your Supervisor as soon as possible.
Ensures supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.
Assures that work / assignment areas are clean and records, files, etc., are properly stored leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.

Working Conditions
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
May be subject to working overtime hours, weekends and holidays, and other shifts / positions as necessary.
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the day, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, ect., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B Viruses.
Communicates with Rehab, Nursing and other department personnel.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies and personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Specific Requirements
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Most possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.
Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Must possess the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
