Description

Job Summary

Specializes in preventative, diagnostic, habilitative, and rehabilitative services related to audition and communication disorders in children birth to 21 years of age.

Provides clinical and professional services within the department. Evaluates neonates, pediatrics and adolescents for both inpatient and outpatient populations, and provides diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients exposed to ototoxic drugs.

Conducts and interprets auditory brainstem response evaluations and newborn hearing screenings. Works as part of Multidisciplinary Clinics and collaborations, and provides professional services for patients with Craniofacial Anomalies.Â

Job Specific Duties

  • Participates in interdisciplinary / multidisciplinary meetings and other related meetings that pertain to the care of specific patients.
  • Maintains and documents productivity standards set by leaders.
  • Records daily patient documentation, statistics, and charges accurately and in a timely manner as determined by meeting departmental standards.
  • Ensures documentation reflects evidence based practices.Â
  • Accountable to improve access to care for the patients we serve.Â
  • Conducts and interprets evaluations based on patient's medical concerns, developmental age, diagnosis, and prognosis. Provides recommendations based on findings.
  • Maintains active and supportive communication with the patient and caregiver(s) regarding problems and other issues related to hearing loss.Â
  • Recommends and provides referrals based upon medical, clinical, functional, and observational findings.Â
  • Actively counsels patients and families to ensure understanding, acceptance, adjustment to auditory, vestibular, or related disorders, and the special needs of the hearing-impaired patient.Â
  • Provides proof of at least 1 in-service specific to evidenced-based practices / literature review.Â
  • Provides proof of at least 1 peer review (case study presentation) incorporating evidenced-based practices into their treatment plan.Â
  • Maintains ongoing CEUs to maintain professional licensure and clinical excellence.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Audiology or Doctorate degree with emphasis in Audiology
  • Audiologist State of Florida license - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment. "Provisional" State of Florida license may be considered.

Full state licensure must be earned prior to start date.

  • ASLHA - Amer Speech Lang Hearing Assoc Certificate of Clinical Competency
  • American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Level II Finger printing background and Good Moral Character Affidavit must be initiated within 15 days of hire date and finalized within 90 days of hire date
  • Clinical Pediatric Rotation in Audiology or Pediatric Experience in Audiology

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology preferred.
  • Able to maintain flexibility in schedule in order to meet patient and business needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to effectively interact with patients, caregiver(s), physicians, and co-workers.
  • Able to professionally deal with problems and concerns.
  • Analytical ability necessary to evaluate patient's condition, interpret and analyze data, assess patient progress, and determine appropriate follow-up.
  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Ability to problem solve and to adapt standard clinical procedures to the individual client's needs.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and react calmly under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to serve as clinical instructor and / or preceptor for Audiology students after 2 years of clinical experience.
