SUMMARY OF WORK :
- As an Environmental Scientist for the Solid Waste Management Program, you will be responsible for the general implementation of the solid waste program for an assigned region and facilities including permit reviews and permit writing;
- technical evaluation of facilities, systems, operations, and equipment to determine compliance with environmental control laws, regulations, and policies;
and supporting the program manager in execution of program-related tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DEQ will not provide sponsorships.
To be considered for an Environmental Scientist III, you must have a bachelor’s degree in natural or physical science with emphasis in biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, or closely related field and two years of related experience.
To succeed in this position, you must have effective communication and intrapersonal skills to engage with stakeholders in a way that leads to compliance;
enforce rules objectively, consistently, and fairly; and have a valid driver’s license to travel to site locations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience in solid waste management, landfill design, soil science, geology, or hydrology experience is helpful but not required.
