Description

The Youth Strategies Coordinator works closely with the Center for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (CEDI), Workforce Development, Talent Acquisition and internal Business Partners to understand future staffing needs, support the development and implementation of proactive, innovative tactics that support youth pipeline strategies.

Represents UH in the community for local youth initiatives and ensures consistency of employer brand to attract and recruit diverse youth talent.

The Youth Strategies Coordinator will creatively source, assess and select qualified candidates to be referred to our signature youth pipeline programs including Health Scholars and Nurse Scholars.

The Youth Strategies Coordinator will also be responsible for creating a positive pipeline experience.

Essential Functions

  • Works closely with the CEDI team, nursing leaders, Talent Acquisition and Workforce Development teams to understand future staffing and compliance needs in order to assist in proactive, innovative sourcing / recruitment strategies to attract and recruit youth talent for signature programming
  • Manage and operationalize our summer internship experience programs
  • Attend and facilitate in-person and virtual community youth activities, workshops and career fairs.
  • Field partnership requests from community organizations, professional organizations, colleges / schools, and workforce agencies to identify a diverse slate of youth candidates.
  • Coordinates our annual Youth Summit event
  • Performs screening and assessment to youth candidates with navigating to appropriate opportunities. Makes recommendations (.

coaching services, education / training programs, open positions, and follows viable candidates through to internship or engagement opportunities.

  • Enters and maintains current and accurate information in youth pipeline database
  • Maintains and reports metrics on outreach activities.
  • Acts as a key resource for all youth workforce development activities

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree Required

Work Experience

  • 3+ years Experience in talent acquisition, youth workforce development and / or youth programming required
  • 1+ years Experience collaborating with community organizations required

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrates confidence and subject matter expertise when presenting to diverse populations (. internal stakeholders, community members, required
  • Ability to independently foster relationships with key stakeholders required
  • Detail oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment required
  • Prior behavioral interviewing assessment experience preferred
  • Develop knowledge base of federal and state laws regarding employment practices preferred
  • Computer proficiency with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required
  • Demonstrated strong communication & interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to engage with candidates and business partners (via online / phone / in-person interactions) required
  • Flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment required
  • Demonstrates customer-focus, builds collaborative relationships with internal and external customers; is sensitive to company needs, employee goodwill and public image required
