Job Summary :
NOTE : No prior knowledge on the topic of tobacco use or public health is needed. The program will provide comprehensive training.
NOTE : The position may be used to fulfill practicum hours if needed.
Position Objective : To provide tobacco use prevention services to youth, families and community members across Kentucky.
Position Description : Supervised by the Program Director, the Youth Prevention Specialist works in schools and communities to facilitate tobacco use prevention services based on the #iCANendthetrend framework, which include :
1. Prevention Education2. Information Dissemination3. Youth Empowerment4. Professional Development
Position Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with schools, parent-teacher groups, civic organizations, church groups, and other youth and community organizations to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.
- Implement peer-to-peer prevention program to provide information and awareness on youth tobacco use, including e-cigarettes.
- Assist in providing orientation or information sessions for parents, teachers, staff or administrators in target area school and community sites when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to meet program objectives.
- Applicants must have reliable transportation.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? :
Preferred Education / Experience :
- Pre-employment criminal background check, employment background check, as required by school districts.
- Evidence-based curriculum training must be obtained within 1 month of employment, and prior to in-school or related program delivery.
This will be provided through the position.
