JOB SUMMARY
The Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting while maintaining a high level of customer service and quality patient care.
The administration of the Sonographer includes performing routine body ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist and demonstrating compassion toensure overall patient satisfaction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs routine body ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist. Patients arepositioned and scanned correctly assuring that the physician prescription and scan are the same.
2. Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history in full sentences, performing providers, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure.
3. Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient. Performs examsin an accurate and timely manner.
4. Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explainsthe exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation.
5. Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports anyequipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider.
6. Properly windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary.
7. Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Performs other duties as required.
8. Customer Service.
WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
2 or more years in the Sonography field is preferred.
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of a course in Ultrasound; Current RDMS certification is required.
Current Certification in RVT is required.
SKILLS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills in properly positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic images, identifying equipment problems, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and public.
This job requires prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; Must be able to see with orwithout corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly, with or without assistance.
This position may require lifting 50 plus pounds.
