Job Overview :
Coding Specialist for Acute Care (Hospitalist / Intensivist) and Emergency Services reporting to EHM Service Line. Work closely with the Revenue Cycle team to ensure a high level of satisfaction and success.
Communicate with Management on any documentation opportunities identified that can impact the revenue cycle.
Qualifications : Required :
Required :
Must have three to five years of Coding experience
CCS (coding inpatient and outpatient), CPC (certified professional coder) or CCS-P (certified coding specialist physician based) certification
- Must maintain required CEU s
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and medical record documentation
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CDM, CPT and HCPCS codes and reimbursement policies.
- Excel Experience
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills
Must display a proven analytical capability and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Location :
Three days per week on site at Clara Maas Medical Center; two days per week remote.
Preferred :
- Knowledge and experience of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding with 3-5 year of coding experience
- EPIC experience
Certifications and Licenses Required :
CPC (certified professional coder) or CCS-P (certified coding specialist physician based) certification
Scheduling Requirements :
- Working Shift, Monday-Friday (Hybrid)
- Day Shift
- Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week
Essential Functions :
- Collaborates with the RCM division of the service line to enhance physician education through documentation
- Responsible for review down code reports, ensure coders are educated on physician documentation practices and oversight of coding and billing work queues
- Work closely and foster strong relationships with physicians and APPs within our service line to ensure the best documentation practice
- Communicates and works day to day with the EHM Revenue Cycle Management
- Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle team identify and resolve revenue integrity processes / workflow and / or to enhance physician s coding / documentation
- Responsible for reporting out any barriers and accountable for reporting out variances to coding distribution levels, denials and / or backlogs to work queues
- Responsible for reviewing coding and reconciliation reports to ensure all documentation and education opportunities were identified to support our revenue cycle.
- Reviews Physician Queries performed by affiliate staff, for necessity, and accuracy and completeness.
- Reviews provider charging and coding for accuracy
- Effectively communicates coding recommendations and reasoning for the recommendations.
- Prepares written reports and documents on reviews conduct
- May be required to perform other related duties.
