Job Description
The Instrumentation / Automation Specialist will have strong troubleshooting skills, be well-versed in plant operations, be able to deal with complex situations and provide and solve guidance.
Work with the maintenance team and in a mechanics capacity when needed.
Instrumentation / Automation Specialist Principal Responsibilities :
- Use Root Cause analysis to correctly repair process equipment.
- Minimize plant downtime.
- Quickly react to department in order of priority in need of service.
- Manage program of mass meter calibrations / Temperature transmitters and pressure sensors.
- Utilize 5S strategy for an organized approach to troubleshooting.
- Track critical spares of controls elements of the operation (VFD’s, Input / Output card, etc.).
- Daily plant inspections walk the production lines and check in with Maintenance Lead.
- Analyze Process Flow - Review P&ID’s.
- Ensure that all work is done safely, on time, with high-quality results, effective cost management, and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Troubleshoot abilities with PLC’s, VFD’s, Electrical, and Pneumatics.
- Coordinate with Controls Contractors installation process improvements and troubleshooting.
- Ability to use process meters and diagnose complex issues utilizing data.
- Manage new equipment installations utilizing MOC.
- Ensure that facilities are maintained and improved as required, including good housekeeping, general appearance, landscaping, and routine maintenance.
- Participate in the plant safety program and attend safety team meetings.
- Calibration of Micro Motion Mass Meters, pH meters, Temperature, Pressure, and vacuum gauges.
- Troubleshoot ladder logic.
- Ability to review, solve problems, and implement ideas in production HMI’s and source code.
- Utilize VPN for select contractors for finding solutions.
- Become familiar with ATEX system repairs.
- Plant network infrastructure troubleshooting Printers, CPUs, switches, cameras.
- Code changes as approved by Plant Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively while utilizing discretion and good judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required; demonstrated team player.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with pressured deadlines.
- Food experience preferred.
Physical Demands :
- On call 24 / 7 as plant and schedule requires. Daily hours may fluctuate as production needs warrant.
