Job Summary
Under the direction of the Vascular Center Coordinator, the Interventional Radiographer performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols.
Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper operation of angiographic equipment including proper selection of technical factors, proper identification of radiographic images, proper programming of equipment, and proper processing of radiographic images for permanent storage
- Responsible for reporting malfunctioning radiographic equipment and facilitating prompt repair as appropriate
- Positions and prepares patients for angiography procedures including shielding, aseptic preparation and appropriate draping for various procedures
- Demonstrates knowledge and properly prepares appropriate equipment for use in interventional radiology procedures.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical / health care errors.
- Injects contrast media under the direct presence and supervision of the Radiologist performing the procedure
- Demonstrates ability to assist physicians with procedures in the Imaging Services Department.
- Assists in maintaining department records and reports
- Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures
- Perform other duties as required.
Education / Experience Requirements
REQUIRED :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- LIcensed by the State of New York to practice Radiologic Technology.
- Current BCLS certification.
PREFERRED :
Experience in angiography preferred
